News Channel 3 Reports on Fake Snow
A new debate is heating up online, this time about the snow itself, and it has led to possible death threats. Two Memphis City Council members, Pearl Walker and Yolanda Cooper-Sutton, shared social media posts questioning whether the snow that fell across the city was real or possibly fake man-made. While the topic is trending on TikTok, the comments quickly took off online, drawing strong reactions as crews across Memphis were still dealing with icy roads, school closures, and cleanup from one of the city’s more significant winter storms in recent years. Your news leader reached out to Councilwoman Pearl Eva Walker about her post.
Council Woman Pearl Eva Walker on Fake Snow
Pearl Eva Walker – Fake Snow: I had a cousin to a chunk of the fake snow, and it was dissolving, but water was not dripping. I come in it that it looks different. What Memphians need to understand is that I have a right to my opinion, and my opinion is my right to speak. It’s bigger than the Constitution.
Council Woman Cooper-Sutton had Posted on Social Media About Fake Snow
WRET also contacted Councilwoman Cooper-Sutton. She says what was meant to be a lighthearted post shared with family and friends has now been blown out of proportion.
Councilwoman Cooper-Sutton – Fake Snow: I’m doing super amazing, but my family here and I have gotten some threats on my life. My Facebook page, people are talking about they hope that I die and that I get over some snow. No one has gone to my page and actually seen the work that I’m doing. Taking food to my neighbors, my senior citizen neighbors, making phone calls, praying for our city. I’m not sure what this is about or where this attack has come from, because it has been really ugly and mean.
Threats Over Commenting on the Snow Being Fake Man-Made
Councilwoman Cooper-Sutton says the challenges many of her neighbors and constituents are facing during the snow and ice recovery are far more important and urgent than any social media post about whether snow is real or fake.
Men Trying to Melt the Snow but it Just Burns
Older Man – Fake Snow: I’ll show them what we did right there. That’s what we did. We tried to heat the top up to melt the snow and ice off the top of the box. The garage area right here, we’re going to see if we can’t melt the snow, because nothing’s coming off. We’re going to use plain old gas first.
Younger Man – Fake Snow: That’s crazy. That’s crazy. This is what I found in the snow in Denton, Texas.
Man Reports on Woman Testing the Snow In Denton Texas
This was in the snow storm in Texas that just came. She took it to a lab. I’ve seen reports of people trying to burn the snow, and it wouldn’t burn. They found in this test aluminum, barium, stonium, mercury, lead, sulfur, nitrates, all at dangerously high levels. These are toxic chemical compounds known to harm the brain, the nervous system, and environment. You’re not crazy for asking questions. You’re crazy if you stay silent. Some of that, they say, will make you have a brain fog. I’m here in Texas. I’ve felt those symptoms of a brain fog all week. Could it be that fake snow that they sent upon us?
