Good afternoon everybody. Today is May 7th. Real ID is being enforced today according to federal law and it is going smoothly at all of our airports here in the United States of America. Real ID will keep us more secure. It gives us more information so that we know who is traveling on our federal transportation systems and our airlines. So overwhelmingly, people have Real IDs already. 81% of the people in the country have a Real ID. If you don’t have one yet, use your passport, military ID, tribal ID. Those are all compliant and we will recognize them. So thank you everybody for all of your cooperation and we’re looking to make America more secure and following our federal law.
TSA Employee – REAL ID Starts Feb 1st 2026, $45 Fee if No REAL ID
So February 1st, any passenger who’s coming to the checkpoint, they don’t have a Real ID or another typical form of ID such as a passport, they’ll have the option to pay a $45 fee to access TSA’s new alternative identity verification system which is called Confirm ID. If you want to go online to tsa.gov, it’ll link you to pay.gov, you can make a $45 fee payment if you don’t have REAL ID and that will generate a receipt and then you’ll have a receipt either in your email, you can print out the $45 fee receipt or have a screenshot of it. We want you to show that REAL ID $45 fee receipt when you get to the checkpoint, that tells the officer that you paid and then you can have your identity verified and go through screening.

That is why today I am announcing this government will make a new free of charge digital ID mandatory for the right to work by the end of this parliament. Can we spell that out? You will not be able to work in the United Kingdom if you do not have digital ID.
