General Motors Deletes Dipstick From 2027 Pickup Trucks
GM is now removing dipsticks from its new pickup trucks. That’s not the shocking part. After all, they love removing things that are actually useful, either to make it harder for you to take care of your pickup truck or just to save money. People are especially mad after GM gave this BS explanation for why they’re doing it.
What’s the Reason for NO Dipstick? – GM Reason for Removing Dipstick
This is part of the reason. So when the pickup truck engines were being architected and designed with some of the additional hardware that’s on the engine, the PFI system, this out body, it became very difficult to package a dipstick. So GM started looking at alternative technologies and we were able to delete the pickup truck dipstick, delete the level sensor, which we had a level sensor in current production, and go to which is that we have a level switch in current production, but we’re able to delete that switch, delete the dipstick, and go to a level sensor that provided really both features. You can check your oil while you’re in the cab. You also can obviously know if the oil happens to be low with the level sensor.
