Jimmy Grillo Fireman: 631-226-9595. Tell my sister I’m okay.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: What happened?

Fireman Partner: There was an explosion. It was in the lobby. The third explosion. The whole lobby collapsed on us.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: What was it like?

Fireman Partner: Horrible. It’s like hell. The whole building just collapsed on us. Inside the lobby.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: Was that a secondary explosion?

Fireman Partner: Yes it was. Definitely a secondary explosion. We were inside waiting to go upstairs. And on the way upstairs, the whole fucking thing blew. And we just collapsed on everybody inside the lobby.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: Similar to the first one coming down?

Fireman Partner: I don’t know about the first one, but I know the second one was terrible. Then there was a third one too after that one.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: There was an explosion after that?

Fireman Partner: That’s right. Everybody was inside the building waiting to go upstairs. And they just let loose. Everything just let loose inside the building.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: So what you’re telling me is that there was a plane or whatever hit the building. Then a secondary explosion.

Fireman Partner: It was like three explosions after that. We came in after the fire. We came when the fire was going on already. We was in the staging area inside the building waiting to go upstairs. Then it exploded. The whole lobby collapsed on the lobby inside.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: And just bam after that?

Fireman Partner 1: Just bam. Everybody tried to work their way out. Just trying to help all the brothers get out. A lot of people were trapped inside.

Fireman Partner 2: I was sitting in the Brooklyn Navy. I watched the first explosion. I’ve been watching the buildings. I saw a black, very large airplane fly right into the second building. It came out of the south. Right in front of our eyes. It was so surreal, like a movie set. We were in the building for the third one. It collapsed. We were on this drive here for the other one.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: How many people were still back there?

Fireman Partner 2: How many people were still back there? I’d say like 50% of the units that we’re on scene are people in that building. There may be more.

Jimmy Grillo Fireman: Any one of these fucking buildings could blow up. It’s not even done yet. This could be no worse than this.

Fireman Partner 1: Could be nothing, nothing, no more than this. We’re in the building trying to help people. There was an explosion on the other side of the building. I don’t think it could get any worse than this. Tyler and Johnson. Cloud Company 24.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: So who are you trying to get a phone call to? I’ll keep hitting redial.

Jimmy Grillo Fireman: My sister.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: What’s the number again?

Jimmy Grillo Fireman: 631-226-9595. Tell her I’m alright. Jimmy. Jimmy Grillo. 924

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: Jimmy, what happened here?

Jimmy Grillo Fireman: We were in the lobby. Gathering to go up. Start doing a search on the upper floors. As we were getting our gear on and making our way to the stairway. There was a heavy duty explosion. Everybody just started running for the door. Everybody was trapped. Eventually when the dust lifted I saw some light. Started screaming for everybody to go out towards the light. I managed to get Tyrone out. And a couple other guys that have already gone over to Jersey City. Via a boat. It was fucked. This guy is still trapped. We couldn’t get to him.

CBS News Reporter on 911 Attack: Message to your family?

Jimmy Grillo Fireman: I’m alive. I’m okay.
