President Trump announcing Russia will supply the U.S. with hundreds of thousands of barrels of diesel fuel aimed at bringing down the prices at the pump.
Trump Announces Deal with President Putin to Supply U.S. with Oil
This comes after the U.S. had been trying to block global purchases of Russian oil as a punishment for invading Ukraine. Tonight, that war is still raging on. This really is a stunning policy reversal for the President Trump administration, which had been trying to stop Russia‘s war machine by sanctioning Russian oil around the globe.
Now, President Trump says that after a phone call with Vladimir Putin today, Russia will send 300,000 tons of diesel fuel to the American and global marketplace, initially with more to follow. Now, the President’s saying this will bring down domestic fuel prices, but that first allotment is really just about as much diesel fuel as the U.S. uses in a single day.
Ukraine’s President Zelensky blasting this decision to ease sanctions is, quote, obvious weakness in saying that, quote, gifts to President Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the civilized world.
President Trump on Russia Oil Deal
I think you heard about the oil deal with Russia. That is a big deal. That is massive amounts of oil coming into our country. I want to thank President Putin, to be honest with you. We have massive amounts of oil coming into our country, and it’s diesel fuel, which is what we want. So, thank you.
Did you hear from the President of Ukranie that the diesel fuel is a weak move?
We are a strong partner. Well, no, we need oil for the world. This is diesel fuel, which is what we need. So, we’re very happy to get it. We’re very happy to get it. Look, we need it. Oil prices are already dropping like a rock. So, we’re very happy to get it.
